Together Calm is managed by principal psychologist, Sarah Yates. With over 15 years of experience and training, she provides integrative, whole-person care tailored to each individual’s needs and goals in an environment free from judgement or criticism.

Our Approach

Having been described as a warm, empathetic and seasoned psychologist, Sarah offers a wealth of experience across multiple therapeutic modalities. Whether working through recent or historic trauma, relationship issues, parenting and work stress, or personal growth, she empowers her clients to discover their inner strengths and live more fulfilling lives.

At the core of her practice is a trauma-infused, psychodynamic foundation helping clients gain insight into unconscious motivations, relational patterns, and the influence of early life experiences on daily functioning. Complementing this, Sarah’s person-centred approach ensures a non-judgmental space to allow for the safety of working toward genuine therapeutic progress at a pace that honours your readiness. She views the therapeutic relationship as paramount, cultivating an environment of safety, trust, empathy and compassion for clients to openly explore even their most vulnerable truths.

A core focus of Sarah’s work involves treating Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) resulting from adverse childhood experiences, relational abuse and acute trauma. Her gentle approach fosters safety and stabilisation to support improved function and to nourish a sense of genuine wellbeing, whilst navigating ongoing daily life stress.

Sarah is also passionate about working with parents-under-stress. Drawing from attachment theory and evidence-based parenting approaches, Sarah provides parent-focused therapy for attachment difficulties and relationship-based child behaviour management, and brings a wealth of insight into the intricate dynamics at play when kids and teens are struggling.

Sarah equips parents with developmentally-attuned tools for responding to their children’s big emotions with patience and presence. She demystifies the psychological drivers behind tantrums, meltdowns, and shutdowns - helping parents stay grounded and supporting them in repairing ruptured bonds, developing attuned and connected caregiving whilst shoring up appropriate boundaries and expectations in the home for kids to thrive in. By strengthening the parent-child bond from the inside out, Sarah supports families in breaking cycles, restoring trust, and paving the way for ongoing healthy communication within the home.

Ultimately, Sarah aims to help her clients develop a greater sense of Self to support them stepping into their highest potential. So, if you are ready to start feeling better, click on the link below to kickstart your journey toward health and wellness.
